The Dance of the Satellites across the red night sky

from one: walk with me by Simon Dwight

/

about

'Dance of the Satellites' is the first instrumental I recorded knowing that there was not and would never be any words involved.

The idea behind the music was a journey beyond the atmosphere to see the 'dancing satellites' - both natural and man made. The idea can be traced back to reading the early chapters of Tolkien's 'Silmarillion' where he talks of the music of the Ainur and Ted Hughes' 'The Iron Man' where he mentions the strange and eerie 'Music of the Spheres'.

This is much simplified from that great notion of the Planets collectively and individually performing their own music in honour and worship of the Ancient One.

Interestingly, this idea has come up again and bled into a new project I am working on, loosely entitled 'The Moon Project' or on Soundcloud 'Up towards the Sun'. The demos are there, including a short acoustic version of this - go check them out. I guess they will end up here soon.
