Waves (Version 3)

from two : new day dawns by Simon Dwight

/

about

This version has improved on the last version by placing the vocal more central to the mix and has the guitars swirling (a la Hendrix) around the vocal. Big Nod to the advice given by Lammbone (Mark Lamm) on V2. Thanks Mark. I would say that this version is more immediate and possibly more vital than the last! Please tell me what you think.

So... this is an old song recorded and remixed in a new way.

Vocal newly changed thanks to advice from Unproman.

Recorded afresh with the newly rebuilt Epiphone Les Paul. The first outing in any way, shape or form of me playing electric guitar for 4+ years....
I was like a child in a sweet shop as I plugged it in and cajoled it back to life....

Lammbone: 'Yes, the guitar parts call out in a Youngesque way. I like the vocals, great expressiveness and wondering if they need to be distant, as you are here: with us. Maybe the guitars can swirl around the vocals? Doesn't a phaser do that? Remember how Hendrix did that so well? But then again, maybe if the vocals transition ebbingly out as the song progresses?'

Gregonovitch: 'I just love how you incorporated all the comments into this and took it out there in a personal and naked way. I really like the vocals - they blend really well with the guitars - they sound "right there" in a great way.'

Soft Enerji: 'This is sounding great Simon........the guitar FX work really well to setthe mood........'

Van Gabriel: 'Wow! I'm completely blown away by this version 3'

Michael Brazell: 'Distortion for that guitar fits really well with the feel of the song.'

lyrics

Waves

Tide comes rushing under my door
Washing, washing, wash my home clean
Ebb and flow all around me
Swirling and enclosing all that's seen.

The future is calling
Crying, shouting, longing
For new sun, fresh rain
Wind blow through my hair again.

Ebb and tide, flow river
Through me, cleanse and heal me
Ocean soak and bind me together
Once again as I swim, swim, swim
Away from it all.
